ATTENTION. Exciting stuff happening!
So it’s been a hot minute since I updated you on my life. There hasn’t been a huge amount of change around here. However… I do have some really exciting news.
If you know me and have been bopping around on the blog for some time now you know that health and wellness are passions of mine. You may have also noticed that I have a passion for traveling and a heart for helping others.
Ever hear of Kalu Yala?
Kalu Yala is a sustainable community that is being built in the middle of the jungle in Panama. They’ve broken the mold of typical civilization and have decided to redo it and do it right.
They also open up their community for students to come and learn while contributing to the building of this community. They have quite a few programs ranging in everything from business to outdoor recreation to culinary.
I applied to non other than the health and wellness program (of course) and to my extreme delight I have been accepted.
Kalu Yala receives around 1000 applications every month and only has about 500 spots every year. Which means they accept only about 4% of everyone who applies. So you can imagine my excitement and surprise when I received my acceptance email.
As of next January I will be living in Kalu Yala, Panama for three months learning about health and wellness from a sustainable standpoint while also contributing to the community. I will be able to learn about common health problems that plague rural communities. And then I will be able to go and teach neighboring communities how to deal with these problems.
Not only will I be able to use what I’ve learned down in Panama, but I’ll be able to bring it back home and teach others what I’ve learned.
Which is all I’ve ever wanted to do: help and inform others using what I’ve learned and experienced myself.
I am so so so excited to bring you along on this journey. I can already tell how incredible and life changing it is going to be.
However, as a starving artist, the only thing standing in my way is the cost of tuition. If you feel compelled to contribute to my journey I’d be eternally in your debt. I’ve started a Go Fund Me. So feel free to check it out here. Any amount helps.
Please, help me help others. :)
