I’m currently on vacation visiting my childhood best friend, Ella, in Ohio. And today I’m heading to Michigan to see family.
I LOVE spending time with friends and family. Especially when I haven’t seen them in a while.
The newest addition to the Taylor house includes a daybed on their screened porch. Which, of course, I claimed as my bed for the last couple nights.
Best sleep ever…
Ok. So today I want to talk to about a matter of the heart.
I hear this all of the time when people try and console each other. And it really irritates me.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve gone on my own love sucks rants from time to time. But I know that it just isn’t true.
Love doesn’t hurt. The absence of love hurts.
I mean think about it. The love that you share with someone isn’t the reason they’ve done something to hurt you. It’s the fact that their love has either changed or disappeared. And unfortunately, sometimes it means the love was never truly there in the first place.
When someone does something that hurts you, it isn’t coming from a place of love. So how can you blame love for something it didn’t do?
That’s like blaming the sun for the rain.
This is why it confuses me when people swear off the possibility of love all together. Love is a beautiful thing. Love doesn’t hurt.
You just have to be careful who you decide to let in.
So, the next time you get your heart broken, realize that it isn’t love that hurts, it’s the absence of love that hurts.
Guard your heart, babes.
